The plan of the Lesson:

T: Good morning, students! Glad to see u! Sit down, please. Who is absent? How are u today?

Т-P1, P2, P3: How do u understand this proverb? What does it mean? Can u find the equivalent in Russian? – (Человеку принадлежит весь мир! Мир у твоих ног!) – It means we can travel anywhere we want to!!! – So try to guess what the topic of the lesson is. CL – Travelling. - T: Right you are. One more question! – Do you often use internet? (Yes, we do) Do you communicate with your friends in chat forums? (Yes, we do.) Imagine now U need to take part in the Forum discussion and write a few sentences on the Topic “HOW TRAVEL BROADENS THE MIND?” Can you do it in English right now? ( Cl: No, we can’t yet!)
T: Why? (Cl: We don’t know the words, we are not good at Geography, etc.)
Well, to do this task you should find out the answers to following questions (на слайде Путевой листок с вопросами). For this I will give u so called TRAVELLING GUIDES or ROUTE SHEETS, one for a group, which you will be filling in during our lesson.

Т: Now look at the pictures, please & listen to music.
Which of the four places are u at? What picture is it?
T-P1, P2, P3:
- What are u doing?
- What is the weather like?
- How do u feel?
The next task is to listen to the information about four places we can travel to, guess the names of the places and number the pictures in the right order. U have the cards №1 to fill in. Ready? (слушают, угадывают и заполняют карточки )
T: Exchange ur Cards! U have the opportunity to check the answers! (слайд)
So, picture №1 – Russia, Yakutia, pic №2 – Marocco, pic №3 – Wyoming – the USA, pic №4 – the Arctic Ocean. (слайд на экране) T: Any mistakes? No! Good job!
- 5. Чтение.
T: Now open ur books at p 90. Let’s read the texts once again & be ready to answer the questions. (вопросы на слайде):
On which holiday (A-D) can you…
- do different sports?
- visit old towns?
- take a trip back in time?
- have campfire nights?
- see a mysterious place?
- taste traditional cuisine?
T: Well done!
What ways of travelling do u know? ( Students’ answers)
Find:
- five means of transport in the texts.
- six geographical features.

Т: And now match the words in bold from the text to their meanings.
( Cards № 2) Pass on the Cards for marks.
T: Use some of them to complete the sentences – Ex. 3b p. 90.

- 9. Отработка лексики. Диалогическая речь с использованием тематической лексики.
Т: While travelling we can do many different things! As for me, I like… Which of the following activities do u enjoy doing while on holiday? (слайд Holiday activities) - (отработка тематической лексики)
T: And now you will work in pairs. You’ll interview each other. Imagine you’re from different countries. The task is to ask & answer questions:
- What do u enjoy doing while on holiday?
- What don’t u enjoy doing?
Т: And now fill in the second point of our Route Sheet – ur favourite holiday activity. Work in groups.
- 10. Т: Now we came up to the third point of our Travelling Sheet – How travel broadens the mind? I’ll give u a minute to complete the last column of the sheet! - Now give your examples and explain?
